I’m just a guy with a blog. No, really.

Okay, so I’m a guy with a blog who happens to be legally blind (an albino) and is fighting cancer. I was diagnosed with an unclassifiable soft tissue sarcoma literally a month after my 32nd birthday. They removed the rapidly growing tumor three weeks later, it was 10cm across.

Unfortunately that isn’t the end of the story. Just as I was going in to have the surgeon look to make sure the wound had healed completely, we found another tumor. Here we go again. But this time, I’m not letting it get in the way of what I believe I have been called to do.

Normally these things spread to the lungs, and if chemotherapy doesn’t kill it, it’s pretty much gonna kill you. Mine hasn’t done that, so who knows? It’s in God’s hands now. In the meantime, as I said, I’ve got work to do!

I know for a fact that it is ONLY by the grace of God that I am here today. I also believe that every bit of what has happened can and should be used to serve his purpose. That includes the cancer, blindness, you name it. I don’t regret who I am or the things that have happened, but sometimes I do wish God would clue me in on what he’s trying to accomplish!

I am Catholic. I joined the Church in 2006 even in the midst of controversy, because my own research into the history of Christianity told me that this was the Apostolic Church, and because the more I dug into the “weird” things I didn’t understand, the more they made sense.

As of this writing, I’m having daily radiation to treat the site of my second tumor, in hopes that it was actually a second primary, and not metastasis. That aggravatingly means my employment prospects are stunted for the moment. I’ve got a background in special education, and an older background in computers.

Right now, I’m just trying to get by. It’s not easy, but with the help of friends and loved ones, I have managed somehow up until today. Tomorrow? That’s in God’s hands.
